Got up this morning at 530am as is my custom when camping. Cleaned up at the Walmart bathroom and changed clothes. Still find it strange not to take a shower every day.
The logistics of tearing down camp and cleaning up and changing clothes in a bathroom stall is daunting.
After I was done with I shuffled on over to the McDonalds on Main a mile away and had some maple oatmeal and began my day writing my weekly newspaper column, blogging and posting on FB.
The bus leaves at 4pm today for Denver and I will need to hike the short one mile to the bus station a couple of hours before departure.
I have 2 offers for paid work in Denver: Nelson Tree Service and Heartland Construction both part time work. Heartland Construction will have me negotiate insurance settlements on structural damage to homes and businesses. At the tree service I perform ground duties while the climbers prune or cut down trees.
Then I will volunteer for the SAME Cafe on Colfax in downtown Denver. They serve dinners to the homeless as well as to the general public. The cafe was started by a Mennonite couple with the last name of Birkey from Hopedale. They are related to my friend, Delmar Litwiller, a regular patron of my favorite coffee shop, Eli's in Morton, IL.
I am staying with the Nelsons for two weeks then will be staying with others for the balance of my time in Denver.
I am undecided on the length of my tenure in Denver. Just won't know for a while.
