O' Paris

O' Paris, Prince of Troy!
You lay sleepily at the confluence
Of Rts 24 and 154 along the southern bank of the Salt River in the green hills
Of Monroe County Missouri.

Though neither the Eiffel Tower nor the Arc de Triomphe graces your downtown and though haute cuisine cannot be found,

Who can duplicate the 1950s burgers, fries and milkshakes
Of Jonesy's or the Mexican delicacies of Jacs?

O' Paris you firebrand of Troy
Though you brought destruction upon Asia for the sake of a woman,

You have now been vindicated by the
Generosity of the Davis's, the Eales, Regina of the First Baptist Church and the Coffee Club ladies.

O' Paris you are a gem among the many villages and towns
Strung like pearls along Rt 24!
